Ok, I got it
Ch. Vladimir, a brown Corded Poodle of about 1885. Judging by his name, this might well be one of the Cordeds which history says often haled from Russia. Reproduced from the English Stock-Keeper.

Welcome to my antique poodle image page.

This page speaks for itself really. The photos and paintings tell a lovely tale of a humans pre-occupation with a breed that was created to entertain us and then in a weird way, we return the favor and entertain them with our laughter and talking to them as if they know our deepest darkest secrets.
For me this page is a testament to the many versatile ways a poodles proves his worth to us. Not with just tricks or a swift turn of the paw, but in every picture if you will notice, their face expressions. Each artist/photographer caught the nobility of this breed, this breeds clown like behavior and just the 'still quiet' that reaches our hearts and makes us want to be part of their lives and feel honored when they allow us into their lives.
I do not want to say that just poodles do this or rather have this ability.
I am just saying that for me, poodles look into my eyes with their deeply soft almond shaped eyes and it is like I am looking into a millions years of love to be given to me without charge, freely given because that is all they know to do.

I am truly honored that such a noble beast would consider me to take care of them and love them, knowing my love will never match theirs for me...because I am an imperfect human and they are a PERFECT dog.

This entire Webster is a tribute to Dogs, but more so to my Poodles.
